The women running the flower stand across the street from where I took this picture were quite willing to let me take a few more after we purchased a couple bouquets. After a few snapshots of the two of them sorting flowers, I moved in for a colorful close-up of just the flowers.

A picture like this is like a litmus test for the scanner I use. For some reason, no matter how I tweak the settings, I just can’t seem to get the same color saturation that is apparent in the original slide. Compared to a magnified viewing on a light table, the resulting scans are just… muddy. I try to take the digitized image on faith – perhaps it’s just my lack of proper monitor calibration that’s the problem. At any rate, it’s easy enough to boost the color saturation in Photoshop.
